TrueNorth Transportation 2023 Year at a Glance

posted by TrueNorth Transportation on Friday, December 29, 2023

For the transportation industry, this year presented challenges and opportunities unlike any other. We saw innovation, collaboration, and growth throughout the industry. Let’s take a moment to recap TrueNorth’s contributions throughout 2023 that made an impact.

Protect & Maximize

Insurance is just the beginning. TrueNorth locks potential for our clients.

Transportation Clients 2023 Recap

TrueNorth MAX Summit

Our clients discovered how to optimize their workforce, up-level their safety and well-being strategies, and minimize risk while proactively protecting against the biggest threats to their businesses at our first-ever MAX Summit. This was our largest event of the year with over 300 attendees!

TrueNorth's Evolution & Investment in the Middle Market

We intensified our investment in the Middle Market segment, where over 99% of trucking companies operate fleets with fewer than 100 trucks. This strategic move reflects our dedication to specialization, which elevates the level of service offered to our clients and provides colleagues with a platform for success.

Driver Appreciation Events

Together, we celebrated drivers’ achievements with our clients. Howard Sherpherd, LLC held their annual Driver Awards Banquet, where they recognize drivers for safety achievements. This year, TrueNorth’s Bert Mayo attended the event to celebrate these drivers. TrueNorth colleagues also joined West Side Transport Inc. to celebrate Thornton Dixton for achieving 5 million accident-free miles. And, our team visited Forward Air Corporation for their driver appreciation week event

Final Mile Insurance Exchange

We introduced our online exchange for property and casualty insurance, exclusively designed for the Final Mile transportation sector. It enables businesses to secure their assets with advanced technology that simplifies the insurance process and eliminates cumbersome paperwork.

High-Performing Talent

We aspire to be an employer of choice, sharing a commitment to be part of something greater than anything we could accomplish alone

Transportation Colleague Recap 2023

Thought Leadership

TrueNorth contributed to well-known industry outlets as our colleagues continued to establish themselves as thought leaders. In the September 10th edition of The Long Haul, Krystin Sitzmann discussed the annual Iowa Truck Driving Championship. Tim O’Neil collaborated with FinFit to produce an article on the impact of financial stress on truckers for TruckingDive.

Colleagues also shared their expertise through other mediums, such as John Biblis’ LinkedIn Live session with safety tech vendor Netradyne and Dan Cook’s appearance on the Tenny Group’s podcast, “The Hot Seat.”

'Thank you Drivers' Colleague Video

During Truck Driver Appreciation Week, colleagues across the organization expressed their gratitude to the dedicated individuals who travel countless miles to keep our economy moving.

Industry Involvement

Our colleagues were actively involved in the industry and contributed to advancement outside of their work at TrueNorth through participation in various committees and leadership groups. A couple of examples of this include Manny Hoyt’s selection as a member of the American Trucking Association (ATA)’s LEAD Class and Drew Mills' appointment to the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI)’s Research Advisory Committee.

Day in the Life of a Truck Driver

Employees spent the day in the life of a truck driver, enabling them to better understand and empathize with the daily responsibilities and challenges drivers face. With these tools, we can help support our trucking clients more effectively.

Purpose-Driven Profit

We are committed to creating a legacy of positive impact as a community steward and advocate.

Transportation 2023 Recap - Communities

Associations

As a member of more than 30 associations, TrueNorth colleagues stayed busy showing their support by attending more than 50 industry events throughout the year. These events included ATA’s Management Conference & Exhibition, NHDA Forum, Women in Trucking Association's Accelerate Conference & Expo, and many more.

At many events, our colleagues displayed their expertise through speaking engagements. To name just a few, William Kassal and Michael Foley spoke at IMTA’s Safety Professional Conference, Tim O’Neil and Bert Mayo hosted a session at ATA’s Safety, Security and Human Resources conference, and Chris Gulker gave opening remarks at the Independent Contractor Practice Policy Committee as part of TCA’s Annual Convention.

Philanthropy

TrueNorth’s Transportation division supports philanthropic efforts that align with our commitment to the well-being of the transportation industry and support the communities we work in and our clients' initiatives. We attended and donated to events such as Forward Air Corporation’s golf outing to raise money for Hope for the Warriors, Performers for Paws hosted by Project K-9 Hero, and TCA’s Truckload Strong event.

ATA

TrueNorth renewed our Corporate Partnership with ATA in June and became the 21st member of their Trucking Cares Foundation (TCF) Founder’s Club in August. Our unwavering commitment to the transportation industry's well-being aligns seamlessly with TCF's mission to create a positive impact through humanitarian relief, leadership development, industry relationships, safety initiatives, and more.

TNTruck Thought Podcast

We recorded and produced 10 TTT podcasts with Scopelitis Transportation Consulting, where we discussed a wide range of topics from FMCSA safety ratings to insurance captives with 11 industry leaders joining as guests to provide their expertise.

As we reflect on 2023, we are grateful for our colleagues, clients, and community who made everything possible. We look forward to seeing what 2024 will bring!
